Pop'lar is an interactive audiovisual exhibition, a showcase of Portuguese popular music subculture, as highlighted by designer Joana Carneiro's private collection of cassette tapes. The visitor is invited to actively explore the music content by pressing physical buttons that play audio tracks, side-by-side with their album covers, encouraging unexpected audiovisual associations between diverse Portuguese popular music artists of the last 40 years. It is a homage to the democratic virtue of the humble cassette tape — a medium for both revered musicians and newcomers, tradition and innovation — and a generation defined by this astonishing intersection. From Ágata to Zeca Afonso.
